Malaria Prevention

To Malarone or Not to Malarone

So we recently went to get all of our immunizations for travel. For our destinations, the CDC recommends vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis b, Typhoid, Rabies, Malaria, Tetanus, Flu, Measles/Mumps/Rubella....yikes!

It turns out both India (including Delhi where we'll be), Thailand, and Panama all have Malaria warnings.

For Malaria we found out that prevention usually consists of taking a pill twice a day two days before you enter a Malaria zone as well as the entire time you are there and one week after you've left. HOWEVER, most pills apparently have some crazy side effects. Some have sun exposure/sensitivity issues and others induce extremely vivid dreams...what??????

CDC Website: http://www.cdc.gov/malaria/travelers/drugs.html

So, we're trying to decide if we really want to be taking pills for basically half of our honeymoon that could have unwanted side effects. The CDC website says for the drug we've been prescribed side effects are uncommon. Maybe just wearing bug spray and avoiding Mosquito parties is the better call?
